What Father Is Teaching Us.

We Christians say we want to be transformed into the likeness of Christ, to be like Jesus (2 Corinthians 3:18, Philippians 3.21). We experience the power and love of God in our hearts when we are born again but after the years go by our love wanes and power weakens. Why this frustration? Because we begin to try to do ourselves what God did in the beginning. And we fail at it. We think that by being good, obeying the law, forcing discipline, dying to self by our own efforts will make us pleasing to God. We fool ourselves and become like the Pharisees who sought righteousness by expanding on the law.

No, the key becoming like Christ right now is to receive Father's love right now and live in that love just as Jesus did. "When we enter into the continuous experiencing of him (Father God) loving us, this changes our personality and...transforms us into the image of Christ. The love itself transforms us." (James Jordan, "Sonship, A Journey Into Father's Heart."
